It is a member of Danubius Hotels Group - one of the largest hotel chains in Europe with spa hotels in Hungary, Great Britain, Romania, Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The company has concluded agreements with Czech as well as German insurance companies. The company Léčebné lázně Mariánské Lázně a. s. follows a great tradition of spa treatment care in Mariánské Lázně. It aims its activities especially at utilization of unique natural healing resources - mineral springs, unique natural gas CO₂ and peloids. The springs´ unique composition allows their utilization in spa and drinking cures for many diseases. Mineral baths, dry carbon baths, gas injections, peloids, combined with quality rehabilitation and physical therapy, create together with ideal climatic conditions the basis of therapeutic activities of our company.

Overall cryotherapy – Cryosauna

The overall cryotherapy in a cryosauna is a unique method of whole-body cold therapy, during which the body is exposed to extremely low temperatures down to minus 160°C for the period of 1 - 3 minutes.

Cooling an organism as a medical tool has been used in medicine for centuries, however only since the 1980’s has it been possible to use the technology for treatments at extremely low temperatures in the form of overall body application.

The procedure has come from Japan and it has now spread to a number of European countries too.

Whole-body cryotherapy is safe and it is very well endured.

Due to the fast cooling of the body surface, the blood circulation is massively stimulated; it is 4 times higher than before cryotherapy. This speeds up the metabolic processes, removal of toxins and metabolic waste products. As a reaction to the cold, the organism starts producing a number of active substances (for example endorphins, corticosteroids), which has a total analgesic effect – reducing pain and it has an anti-inflammatory and regenerative effect, improving the performance of the immune system and thereby reinforcing the body’s defence system and also improvement of physical and mental endurance.

Indications:

There are various possibilities of using cryotherapy as a medical aid; below are the most frequently used examples in practice:

Contra-indications:

General contra-indications are the same as contra-indications in spa and rehabilitation cures
Serious cardiovascular disorders, cardio-stimulator, acute vein inflammation, acute infectious conditions, cold allergies, oncological illnesses, peripheral blood circulation disorders, unstable hypertension

Before every cryotherapy application it is always necessary to have a medical consultation, measuring blood pressure and pulse rate and individually an ECG (according to the doctor’s decision) as well as the exclusion of any acute contra-indications.

Recommended frequency of whole-body cryotherapy in a cryosauna is daily application for ten days, ideally 20 applications. The whole-body cryotherapy can be also applied 2x day, minimal interval between applications is four hours. At the end of an application it is suitable to have some aerobic locomotive activity (for example rower, exercise etc.)
