The spa town Jáchymov is situated at the bottom of the Ore Mountains. It is famed not only for the unique spa treatment, but also for its extensive mining history. Jáchymov is located in a beautiful Ore Mountains country suitable for hiking, cycling, exacting mountain tours as well as trips for families with children. The local ski areas provide all services to lovers of winter sports. Jáchymov has been visited by many notable persons - Georgius Agricola, Martin Luther, T. G. Masaryk and others. Marie Curie Sklodowska, a Polish scientist who isolated the radioactive element radium from the Jáchymov uranite, was working here too.

Monuments

You will find many interesting monuments in Jáchymov. Late Gothic Dean St. Joachim’s Churchbelongs to the most significant ones. Other significant monument is the mine Svornost (Concorde) - the oldest one of the Jáchymov silver mines. Later the mine served to uranium mining. Now it is in operation as a spa treatment facility. The resource of healing radon waters for the spa is underground.
